| His name is Baci and it means “kisses” in Italian. Every time we take him for a walk we hear gasps and squeals, see faces light up, hear people saying “so cute!”, or rolling down their windows while driving and yelling some wholesome phrase at him. Like, “YOU’RE THE CUTEST DOG I’VE EVER SEEN!” It’s like we’re the bodyguards of a celebrity baby. At some points the cute aggression level has been a little much. Yesterday we had our first truly original interaction with a stranger since we got him. Walking down 23rd, we passed by a group of men. Half of them start cooing at Baci and one of them goes, “Well isn’t that a hideous puppy?” Completely joking of course, he got bonus points for uniqueness. There’s something about the cuteness of a puppy that brings instant joy and connection to strangers. I have never had this many interactions with strangers on the street. Anyway, I’ll stop raving about our new pup for now. This time last year I had just packed up to go to Costa Rica for three weeks. This year I’m hunkering down for a dark and dreary Portland February (snow is currently a possibility). And I’m feeling pretty good about it! I usually don’t do well in February, probably because of the relentless drear, but I’m hopeful it will be a good month. Our Valentine’s Day plans are going to an “Acro Jam” where we play with acroyoga poses while being supervised. I’m pretty excited. Onto the rest of the newsletter! |
